Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful break.  January will be a busy month in Physical Education.

K-2: Students will focus on Educational Gymnastics.  They will participate in activities that include rolling and balance.

3-Students will re-visit the striking activities that were started before the break.  Next, students will move on to Educational Gymnastics.  Lastly, students will complete a cognitive assessment.  This is a county-wide assessment that will cover all skills and concepts that were taught during the first and second quarter.

4- Students will focus on Educational Gymnastics and fitness components (cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength/endurance, flexibility, etc.).

5-Students will focus on throwing and striking with the hand.

Safety Reminder-Please send your child to school with tennis shoes/sneakers on their PE days.  Thank you.

December 2016

Students in grades K-2 will continue to practice underhand and overhand throwing.  Next, we will progress to catching.

Students in 3rd grade will continue to focus on striking.

Students in 4th grade will focus on volleyball skills, such as serving and bumping.

Students in 5th grade will apply ball control skills to small-sided invasion games.

November 2016

November will be a busy month in Physical Education!

Students in grades K-2 will focus on underhand and overhand throwing.

Students in 3rd grade will focus in striking skills.  They will practice striking with the hand and striking with implements (bats, hockey sticks, etc.)

Students in grades 4 and 5 will focus on ball control skills.  They will practice dribbling with their feet and dribbling with their hands.  Next, they will apply those skills to small-sided games.

We will take a break to focus on Jump Rope for Heart on the week of November 14-18.

This month in PE…October 2016

October will be a busy month in Physical Education.

K-2: Students will focus on kicking.  We will progress from kicking a stationary ball to a moving ball.  Finally, we will practice dribbling with the feet.

3: Students will focus on dribbling with the feet.  Students will focus on the basics, and then progress to applying dribbling skills in small sided game situations.

4-5: Students will focus on fitness concepts.  We complete activities that include muscular strength/endurance, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility.

Welcome to school year 2016-2017! My name is Mr. Hatcher, and I will be your child’s Physical Education teacher this year.  Please feel free to explore my website.

K-2: Students will focus on class rituals/procedures this month.  Next, we will progress to spatial awareness and locomotor skills.

3-5: Students will focus on class rituals/procedures as well.  Next, students in 3rd grade will progress to locomotor skills (jumping, leaping) and spatial awareness (chasing and fleeing).  Students in grades 4 and 5 will focus on FitnessGram.  They will assess their muscular strength/endurance, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, and body composition.
